Moonset

Last night Deb and I went for a walk, and as we were coming home I noticed the moon was setting and I thought I might be able to get it over the ferry at sunset. So I grabbed my camera and tripod and ran down to the bluff overlooking the ferry, and sure enough (after walking a little ways along the bluff) I was able to get the moon over the ferry.

Portraits

A few weeks ago I did portraits for the kids at my school (or for their parents). It was a blast and I feel like I'm much improved from last year. I had a hard time with some of the younger kids, and a hard time with the group photos. But for the most part I am very happy with how they turned out. Here is a peek at them. I have only gotten one photo release back, but it is for one of my favorite photos. I also have a hard time with printing the photos. I crop the photos so they look good to me, but that doesn't mean they are cropped nicely for a 5x7 or an 8x10. So, I always end up having to go back and try again.

Yellow Flower

Deb and I went for a walk Saturday evening and came across this beautiful flower.

Also wanted to remind readers that you can purchase prints and cards with my photos on them from redbubble.com.

Fourth of July

Lots to post in the coming days. I took tons of pictures this weekend and quite a few turned out really well.  Here is the first one, more to come.

The Zoo

Yesterday we took the kids at my daycare to the zoo.  It was a good time and I got some great pictures of the animals. This first one of the tiger is a pretty amazing shot.  I love how in focus it is and everything about it. Although, I was standing right next to a guy with a lens that was one you would see at a football game, a huge telescope lens.

The zoo has this place called the zoomasium, or something like that, its a relatively big indoor play place.  And in the afternoon that was all the kids wanted. I was able to drag a few out to see the Flamingos with me.

This blue heron was sitting around while the penguins were getting fed.  I think it was waiting for some free food.

Eagle Getting Dinner

Last night just before we were getting ready to eat our dinner, Deb saw an Eagle swoop down and grab something out of the water.  By the time Deb and I got out of the house with the camera, the eagle was sitting on the beach getting pestered by some crows and seagulls.  After a minute of that it took off back to its nest, giving me a great shot at some pictures.  Click the pictures to view larger, we were pretty close to him, so they blow up pretty nicely.  In the first two pictures the eagle has its catch in its talons, and then it takes off with it.

We thought he got a young sea otter, but we aren't quite sure what it is that he was able to catch.

Sunset

Last night the sunset was beautiful here.  These pictures hardly begin to capture how beautiful it was.  We have been truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place. Its about time spring starts.

Family Photo Preview

Here's a preview of our photo shoot with this wonderful family. We had a great time and like I've said before Carkeek park is amazing. There is such a wide variety of backgrounds.  The daughter used to come to my daycare a few years ago, and it was good to get a chance to catch up.

Carkeek Park pt. 1

Deb and I went to Carkeek park for a photoshoot yesterday. It was a beautiful morning for photos and we had a fabulous time.  It is my new favorite place to do photoshoots.  There is a ton of variety for backgrounds to photos.  Plus one can get really close to the train as it goes by.  Pretty fabulous.  Look for photos from our Family shoot coming later this week.

Walking on Water

When we were walking along the beach the other day, the tide was just right for a little walk on the water.  If the waves weren't crashing it would look a little more realistic, but I love how you can't see the land beneath me.

Run and photos

Deb and I are participating in a 5k run on Saturday.  We would love it if you joined us or donated to help end slavery. You can do either by following this link.
And now back to what this site is all about. Deb and I went for a beautiful spring walk last Saturday and Deb got some wonderful pictures (I'm convinced that she is the better artist with the camera and gets lots more 'wall worthy' pictures than I).
I love the perspective

This would have been great if some bonehead hadn't walked into the background

Owl and Eagles

On our hike to the water falls we saw this little owl, don't know if it is a baby or a full grown small owl.  But it was pretty cool. Just sitting there on the branch looking at us as we walked by it.

After the hike we went back to our B&B and the eagles were out soaring.  They soared for well over a half hour as the sun was setting.  I don't think I saw them flap their wings once. They would soar to the west a little bit then peel back and soar east, than turn around and do it again.  Pretty awesome.

Weekend Away

Deb and I got away this weekend to the Olympic Peninsula, we had a great time. We stayed at Sea Cliff Gardens.  It is an amazing place, with a great view.  We went to Hurricane Ridge (although it was quite foggy), Crescent Lake and Marymere Falls, and the Hoh Rainforest.

The view from our B&B.  That is Canada on the horizon.

The Eagles flew over us for 30 minutes or so with out flapping their wings.

The view looking east down the cliff.

Beautiful Sunrise

Got up early to watch the sunrise while we were on Whidbey Island.  So beautiful.  Its amazing to watch throughout the year as the sun moves north every day and then south in the fall.

Twilight

No, not the books or the movie.  I've never read them or seen them, the only thing I know about them is that they take place near Forks Washington.
Anyway, I have been hoping for a while to catch the nice twilight lighting just after sundown.  I have seen lots of great pictures where everything is a nice royal blue.  A week or so ago, I went down to take pictures of the sunset and hoped to stay long enough to see it, but I had to get home because we had other plans, last night we had no other plans, so I went down right as the sunset, and waited just a little bit to get these pictures (about as long as it takes the ferry to go from Kingston to Edmonds).  I think they turned out pretty awesome, and sometimes that's all that matters.
(Like always, you can click to view larger).
